HANDMADE LENDS A TOUCH OF HUMANITY
Each of the guest rooms at the Eaton Hotel in Washington DC features handwoven dhurry rugs that were carefully crafted in India for Creative Matters. In this room we particularly love how the human touch adds to the beauty and uniqueness of each piece. The brown and cream dhurry is enhanced by the use of hand-dyed wool that adds desired irregularities (often called abrash) to the colour. The blue and white dhurry behind the couch is a flat weave with raised cut pile stripes that add texture and comfort to the room. And, for the hotel that offers travelers the opportunity “to congregate around creativity and consciousness-building”, we also created the complementary wool pillow covers with custom fabric and fringe.
