As this is National Indigenous History Month, we decided to feature our first collaboration with Métis artist Christi Belcourt. (We are currently working with Christi to reproduce two of her paintings into handknotted rugs.) Our client provided us with four pieces of original artwork by Christi. We then reworked the art to create wallcovering designs that fit the dimensions of each wall. This re-creation was particularly complex and time-consuming but we felt privileged to have the opportunity to appreciate the great detail and meanings behind Christi’s work.

Project: four wallcovering designs for the Toronto Birth Centre
Wallcovering: digitally printed in the U.S. on type II vinyl
Interior Designer: LGA Architectural Partners
Creative Matters Designer: Clémence Hardelay with original artwork from Christi Belcourt
