October marked another milestone moment for Creative Matters as we brought Redoux Passager to North America for the first time. Debuting at AZURE’s second annual Human/Nature Climate Conference, the immersive installation created in collaboration with LOMA Studio was one of the focal points at the event dedicated to the evolving relationship between design and sustainability.

The two-day event was defined by thoughtful dialogue and material exploration. Ana Cunningham, Creative Matters, Managing Partner and Johan Brunel, LOMA Studio, Co-founder, also took the stage for a panel discussion, exploring the intersections of sustainability, materiality and emotional design expression.

THE NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT OF REDOUX PASSAGER

Previously showcased at Paris Design Week in 2023 and at Milan Design Week last year, Redoux Passager is an exploration of water, movement and regeneration expressed through handtufted rugs crafted in wool and silk. The installation offered conference attendees a place to pause and reflect.

A WORKSHOP ON REGENERATIVE DESIGN AND MATERIAL POETICS

Redoux Passager Workshop: A dialogue on regenerative design and material poetics

In the workshop, Ana and Johan discussed the ideas at the heart of Redoux Passager, sustainability, emotion and the power of material choice. Ana spoke to wool’s regenerative qualities, noting that it enriches soil, purifies indoor air for up to 30 years and offers a more human, circular material story. “Regeneration is about materials that give back,” Ana said. “Wool does this naturally, completing a cycle rather than creating waste.”

Johan reflected on the poetics of working with natural fibres. “There’s uncertainty but also grace,” he said. “Natural materials breathe, carry memory and remind us that design is a dialogue.”

The conversation also touched on cross-cultural approaches to sustainability, the importance of client education and the future of materials as active contributors to well-being. Ana noted, “The next decade will be shaped by transparency – origins, lifecycles, impact – and a return to nature’s intelligence.”

WHERE IDEAS GATHERED

Human/Nature brought together designers, innovators and thinkers shaping new approaches to environmental stewardship, creating an ideal display setting for Redoux Passager. Within the atmosphere of curiosity and discovery, Redoux Passager became a conversation space. A gathering to discuss naturally sourced materials and regenerative futures. Reflecting on sustainability not as a mandate but as a meaningful design pathway.

From Paris to Milan to Toronto, Redoux Passager continues to spark conversations. Our time at Human/Nature reaffirms our belief that thoughtful material choices can create meaningful change and that collaboration across disciplines strengthens that impact. Thank you to AZURE and LOMA Studio for helping shape this meaningful dialogue.
