OUR NEW LOOK BOOK!
"Imagine a clean-cut entertaining area contrasting with a bold architectural area rug. Urbanscapes: the characteristics of a cosmopolitan territory."
Following the incredible success of our first look book, we are delighted to announce the arrival of our second, inspired 2. Unlike our collection books that feature floorcoverings that have been fully-designed and produced as handknotted rugs, our look books present a large collection of carpet and wallcovering designs at a much earlier stage in their development.
Both look books, inspired and the new inspired 2, comprise over 100 designs created through our signature Art Day process. As starting points, the designs provide clients with ideas for what is possible in both floor and wallcoverings. They are ready to be modified in minor or major ways - in colour, pattern, size and shape. The look books are divided into themed sections. The first look book presents: Organic, Vibrant, Geometric, Fusion and Watercolour, while inspired 2 introduces Eloquent, Graffiti, Collage, Shaped, Shibori and Urbanscapes. Both books have a separate section for wallcoverings even though many of the sections already include wall-appropriate inspiration.
"Shaped is a particularly interesting section because it presents the concept that the edges of rugs do not need to follow conventional lines and curves," said Senior Designer Sandra Ciganic-McKinney who co-curated the inspired 2 collection with Vice President Ana Cunningham and Senior Designer Anna Panosyan.
Art Day is a Creative Matters tradition where the entire staff temporarily abandons the digital world to immerse themselves in a theme or artistic technique. "The Shibori collection of designs resulted from an Art Day where we practised the Japanese manual resist dyeing technique of the same name," said Sandra. "We used plants herbs, flowers and even fruit to bundle-dye pieces of cloth. After boiling, they left imprints on the cloth with beautiful colours."
We were encouraged to curate a second look book because so many concepts from the first have gone on to become rugs. To name a few, inspired's designs now grace Deloitte Canada's stunning new office tower, departments of luxury retailer Holt Renfrew and the suites at Bermuda's latest contemporary hotel. "It is genuinely so 'inspiring' for clients to flip through the pages and point out patterns and colours that feel right for their project," said Sandra.
Both look books are available in print and on our website.
