PARIS DESIGN WEEK: BEHIND THE SCENES OF CREATIVE MATTERS’ REDOUX PASSAGER INSTALLATION
Earlier this month, the Creative Matters team took to Paris Design Week to unveil our highly anticipated Redoux Passager art installation. Collaborating for the second time with Paris design studio LOMA, known for their responsible and innovative design ethos, we set out to create an immersive experience representing our commitment to water stewardship in our rug design.
This year’s installation followed the success of our Winter Garden exhibit, showcased at Paris Design Week 2022. Redoux Passager poetically continues the journey of water using a collection of sustainable and natural fibres such as silk, wool and wood, leading visitors through a calming oasis.
Our designs called Paris Design Week visitors to consider the precious nature of water relating to climatic distress, posing as a reflection on the question of sustainability and the management of this natural resource through the ages.
“We were so thrilled to be back for Paris Design Week. Our “Redoux Passager” caught the attention of the show’s community in a deep and captivating way. Visitors became lost in a sea of wondrous vivid blue shades, a tactile experience complimenting the exquisitely made furniture,” says Ana Cunningham, Managing Partner at Creative Matters. “The powerful message of sustainability resonated deeply, reminding us of the importance of preserving our planet's precious beauty. An unforgettable experience that has left many in awe.”
Clémence Hardelay, Director of Design, Europe, was one of the Creative Matters team members taking part in Paris Design Week. “The eight days in Paris were strong in emotions and impressions; starting from the moment we unpacked, discovering the depth and the beauty of the carpets, to seeing the LOMA putting together all the pieces and scenography. Seeing the elegance of the wood and its construction dialoguing with the wool and silk textures, as well as the different techniques showcased in the space, was quite magical,” says Clémence.
Clémence also shared, “We had an incredible response from the public, with people remembering us from last year with Winter Garden, and a new discovery for others. Seeing them interacting and taking the time to take a “bath”, a pause, and hearing how the design was reminiscent of the Japanese Onsen for some, confirmed that our collaboration with LOMA is unique and powerful. There was also a great understanding and appreciation of Creative Matters’ efforts in regards to our mills’ water stewardship, which makes me truly believe that we do have our place among the artistic Parisian community.”
“My experience at our Paris Design Week exhibit was truly unforgettable. It was heartwarming to hear people reminiscing about our presence at last year's Winter Garden exhibit and their recognition made me feel connected to a thoughtful community of art and design enthusiasts,” shares Anna Panosyan, Director of Design Development.
“The intensity of the colours was often remarked as a highlight amongst many of our visitors. As I spent more time in the gallery, the exhibit continued to reveal a depth of detail that had previously escaped my notice. The show not only met but far exceeded my expectations and reaffirms that our collaboration with LOMA will leave a lasting impression amongst all who attended.”
The entire Creative Matters team couldn't be happier with the outcome and the resounding success of this year’s Paris Design Week showcase. We are thankful to everyone who joined us and immersed themselves in "Redoux Passager”.
