DESIGN AND ARTISTRY CONVERGE AT COLLECTIBLE BRUSSELS

Creative Matters’ Piazza rug from the Vanguard collection

From March 7 - 10, Creative Matters took to Brussels to showcase at the seventh edition of COLLECTIBLE, a one-of-a-kind fair for 21st-century collectible design. Creative Matters’s Piazza rug, from our Vanguard Collection, took centre stage. The rug is a contemporary take on art deco design, featuring asymmetrical borders and geometric motifs. Along with Piazza, we showcased a variety of samples to emphasize our production capabilities, everything from handtufted to handknotted styles.

Presented as an exhibition of art, rather than a traditional trade show, COLLECTIBLE serves as a pioneering international platform showcasing the best of contemporary artistic designs across all mediums. This incredible exhibition marked Creative Matters’ foray into Belgium’s vibrant design scene.

125 exhibitors from 21 countries joined to show at this year’s edition of COLLECTIBLE, which sets itself apart by curating exceptional objects deemed worthy of acquiring. The spectacular event welcomed thousands of visitors, including art collectors, interior designers, and design enthusiasts.

A PREMIER CURATION OF CONTEMPORARY COLLECTIBLE DESIGN

Samples showcased at COLLECTIBLE

COLLECTIBLE exclusively presents unique pieces, bespoke commissions and limited edition designs. The fair seeks pieces that are functional or have functionality in mind .

All chosen works need to have been produced recently, resulting in a showcase of the highest quality. Items are well-researched and objects are selected to reflect the latest in design movements and push the boundaries of creativity.

Held in the heart of Brussels, COLLECTIBLE showcases established and emerging galleries, brands, design studios and independent makers at the iconic Vanderborght Building. Built in the 1930s, this historic location epitomises modernist architectural design, boasting 6,000 square metres across five floors.

THE PIAZZA DESIGN TAKES CENTRE STAGE

Creative Matters’ installation at COLLECTIBLE in collaboration with FORMÆ Magazine

One of the standout features of COLLECTIBLE is its emphasis on immersive experiences, allowing visitors to easily explore each gallery and get lost within the exhibition. Our Piazza installation was part of a special capsule curated by FORMÆ Magazine and Archistorm magazine. The capsule focused on materials and textures rather than traditional design elements, offering visitors a captivating experience.

Clémence Hardelay, Creative Matters’ Director of Design Europe, attended the event on behalf of our team. “Our approach to the installation focused on our designs’ touch-worthy textiles and premium fabrics. The displays showcased the craftsmanship and innovation behind all we do and it was wonderful to see visitors responding so well to our Piazza rug.”

A CATALYST FOR CREATIVE CONNECTIONS

Clémence Hardelay, Creative Matters’ Director of Design Europe

The atmosphere at COLLECTIBLE was nothing short of electric. The impressive fair attracted a varied audience, including private collectors, renowned European interior designers and creative industry professionals.

“COLLECTIBLE is unlike the trade shows we’ve participated in, feeling more like an exhibition. It was wonderful to be a part of. It was inspiring to be surrounded by so many interior designers we know of and respect, including India Mahdavi, an esteemed French architect and interior designer we’ve long admired. We were able to connect with an array of creatives in the interiors and carpet making industries. It was an excellent opportunity to forge new relationships within the European design community, outside of our connections made at our recent Parisian events,” shared Clémence.

Our involvement in COLLECTIBLE truly marked a significant milestone for us, being our inaugural venture beyond Paris. Keep an eye out for updates as we delve deeper into our European pursuits.
