THE ART OF TEXTURE IN THE HANDTUFTED TECHNIQUE
Inevitably the primary role of a hotel lobby rug is to lead the guest’s eye to the enticements beyond. For the different sections of the palatial entrance at Toronto’s Four Seasons, we created six variations on a theme also designed to gratify those who stop and enjoy. Wool and the handtufted method call out to gracefully bear a thousand comings and goings. For this piece however, a delightful crosshatch woven look was achieved using multiple textures - varying pile heights along with loop and cut pile - for added depth and intrigue.
