OUR FIRST RUG FOR A CHAPEL SETTING

In a conversion from a seminary, we were asked to provide three rugs for the reimagined interior of the department of economics at the University of Chicago. Pictured here is our rug for what is now the Graduate Commons, a soaring space with a flexible floor plan. The rug pattern relates to the carved wood details of the soaring ceiling, the curves of the arched windows, and the circular suspended lighting. The design fits perfectly with the historic elements that remain, while the large scale and geometry of the pattern offer a modern feel.
