A DAY AT THE MUSEUM

aga_khan_museum.jpg

The first museum in North America devoted to Islamic Art opened in Toronto in September 2014. The carpet design in the Bellerive Room in the Aga Khan Museum echoes the geometric patterns selected by architect Fumihiko Maki throughout.

The tile motif is enhanced by a square within a square; the inner one contains an ornate scroll pattern and the outer one what we believe to be the Iris, a symbol of religious freedom often seen in old Persian rugs.

36" x 36" tiles printed in nylon and manufactured in the U.S. with pad attached; interior designer is Studio Adrien Gardère from Paris and Creative Matters designer is Ana Cunningham.
