Welcome aboard the Entourage, a superyacht by Moran Yacht & Ship, and experience Creative Matters’ inaugural custom design project for a vessel of this kind. Created in collaboration with interior design studio Burdifilek, our team designed and installed 100% prism nylon handtufted rugs to enhance Entourage’s serene ambiance. We produced minimalist rugs for the bridge and main deck salons, main and lower corridors, and main owner and guest cabins to harmonize with the calming ocean environment. The result epitomises quiet luxury, allowing the premium furnishings and tranquil surroundings to shine.

MORAN YACHT’S ENTOURAGE BOAT
Receiving outstanding accolades during its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, Entourage was awarded Boat of the Week by Robb’s Report and was a finalist in the best interior and exterior design category at the 2024 BOAT International Media Design and Innovation Awards.
Entourage is an impressive 60m motor yacht built by Amels in the Netherlands. The second Amels 60 boat, the Entourage, has the look and feel of a completely new model, with custom windows, an elongated Sundeck and sleek interior design by Burdifilek. The serenity and comfort of the boat’s interior are characterised by a monochromatic palette of plush creams, greys, and off-whites, incorporating curved lines and sculptural elements to evoke the beauty of the ocean within.
Burdifilek sought the work of Creative Matters in designing custom rugs to complement the yacht's calming interior. Specifically, the interior design studio wanted the light from outside to shine in on the carpets, reflecting the sparkle of the ocean within Entourage’s inner spaces. To bring Burifilek’s vision to life, we created a range of 100% prism nylon custom rugs.

THE YACHT CUSTOM RUG DESIGN PROCESS
Embarking on our first custom superyacht design project, we found ourselves navigating uncharted waters. Spearheading this was Creative Matters’ Senior Designer and Project Manager, Ana Diosdado. She shared, “Working on a yacht was very exciting. It was a new type of environment for us. We mainly work on residential, hospitality and corporate custom designs, so a yacht was fairly new territory. We rose to the challenge. Burdifilek is a highly respected design studio, so we also felt honoured they wanted to work with us on this incredible design opportunity.”
Designing for a yacht brought forth unique challenges. Ship yards operate on specific timelines, unique floorplan specifications and demand precision in every aspect. "To navigate this, we ensured our timing and communication was impeccable. We worked closely with Burdifilek and our Thai artisan mills to ensure no deadlines were missed and the design specifications were clear," Ana explained.
Each custom rug was meticulously handtufted in Thailand. Prism nylon was specifically selected for its premium look and stunning shine. A combination of low loop pile, tip-sheared loop, and cut pile techniques were incorporated to ensure durability and a crisp finish, crucial for accentuating the line work and contributing to the contemporary interior of Entourage. Given the precision required, ensuring pile thickness and exact measurements was imperative.
