CARING FOR WOOL CARPETS WITH CONFIDENCE

Creative Matters has used wool in our floor coverings for over 35 years, highlighting our dedication to this natural material. Over the years, we have worked closely with The International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), the leading global authority on wool standards. In 2022, Creative Matters' founder, Carol Sebert, was appointed chairperson of the Wool Interiors Working Group. This group includes members from 41 countries and collaborates with the IWTO Sustainability Group.

Recently, Carol spearheaded the creation of the IWTO Wool Carpet Care Guide with a group of the world’s leading industry experts and WoolSafe, an organization dedicated to advanced research into the care of wool products.

THE MAKING OF IWTO WOOL CARPET CARE GUIDE

Carol, as chairperson of the IWTO’s Wool Interiors Working Group, played a crucial role in encouraging the use of wool for floor coverings. This guide aims to correct the misconception that wool carpets are hard to maintain. It includes up-to-date tips on cleaning and caring for wool floor coverings sustainably. Carol explained, “Our survey identified a need for improvement in understanding wool care and boosting confidence that wool rugs and carpets are as good of a choice now as they have always been. Carol further states, “Our team has worked closely with WoolSafe to compile and showcase the very latest information that will help people look after their wool carpets in a responsible way and ensure they continue to perform and look great for many years.”
